I need to find felons stories.

I’m looking to find felons who will share their stories of success which I know will provide hope and inspiration for others facing the same problems. If you are one of those people and are able to share your story with the world that would be a great resource for anyone in the same position and who perhaps can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Let’s take a look at some find felons stories

Cora's Story

For 10 years of my very young life I was a drug user. Because of this I was sentenced to an eight year suspended prison sentence. I ended up in a therapeutic community called Peer 1 and stayed there for 4 years before but unfortunately got laid off from the job that I had been in for 3 years. That was a really difficult time and I truly didn’t know what to do or even where to go. In the end I decided to go back to school and was already aware of a place called Red Rocks which had a Gateway program.

The same day I arrived, I enrolled and started my classes a week later. I truly believe that if it wasn’t for the Gateway program I would have gone back to my old life and would not be where I am today.

I am married to a wonderful husband who is and always has been very supportive. We have 4 children and are just about to have our fifth any time soon!!. I have a job working in the Gateway office which I love doing every day and without my two angels Angelina and Cathy I would not be where I am right now.

My goal is to obtain my PhD in Psychology. I have a 4.0 average and am studying for my Psychology Degree and completing my graduation at Red Rocks. I’m living proof that there is hope and working with addicts like myself really inspires me and also inspires them and gives them first experience of real success.

I’m so extremely proud of the person I am today and it is mainly due to the stepping stones that were provided for me through the Gateway Program, as well as the confidence that was restored to me once I was able to see that school is not scary, and that I AM every bit as capable as anyone else to achieve my goals!!!

Jeffrey is another find felons success story.

If you look back at Jeffrey’s life it doesn’t really read to well. His destructive cycle began by choice but he didn’t have control of it. He has faced drugs, homelessness, abuse, family separation and ultimately prison. Each time he ended up inside prison, locked into a tiny cell he would gaze at the clouds through that small window and ask himself what on earth am I doing here?

The stupid thing was I knew that this isn't how life should be. I also knew the answer to my problems wasn’t going to be found in prison. As a corrections officer said to me once "Come back any time you like, we'll still be here and we will leave the light on for you Jeff.

My determination to change was stronger than ever and seeing the Gateway Program posted on the other side of the glass was a turning point in my life. And to this day, what I love about Cathy, Angelina and the program as a whole is the total belief in me as a person, they looked to what I can achieve and not punished me for what I had done in the past.

Because of that support and help, I now have a goal that I aim to achieve. I will first get an associate’s as a computer tech. After that I intend to get my associate’s in general studies. With that in hand I’ll transfer to a four year college and get my bachelors in computer information systems.

There are plenty of correction officers willing to leave the light on for you. I’d rather be part of the group that shows you how to turn the light on within yourself.

I hope these two stories have inspired you and showed you real examples of people who despite the odds really did turn their lives around. I am looking to find felons who can share their stories too and in turn provide hope for everyone out there facing similar problems.
